James W. Cook, 86, of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 05, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
James was born July 27, 1927 in Stearns, Kentucky to the late Henry and Vina Cook. He served in both the United States Air Force and the United States Army. James retired from General Motors in 1988 after working 16 years in the shipping and receiving department. James was also a 48 year member of Memorial Baptist Church.
James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Naomi Cook; their son, Jeff Cook (wife Debbie) of Muncie; two grandchildren, Allison Cook of Dallas, TX and Austin Cook of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by a sister Viola McConiha; brothers, Erby Cook and Henry Cook; and three infant brothers, Orby, Floyd, and George Cook.
A funeral service to celebrate James'' life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie. Pastor Ronnie Black will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Garden View Funeral Home.
