James Russell Dudley, 88 of Indianapolis passed away Thursday morning May 11, 2017 at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis. He was born January 23, 1929 in Farmland, IN and was the son of the late Melvin B. Sr. & Christina Beatrice (Mullen) Dudley.
James worked as a Tool & Die Maker for General Motors Truck Plant for 30 years. James enjoyed spending time with family and his dog Maggie. He had many hobbies, music, hunting, fishing and painting. James also was very handy with his hands and enjoyed making turkey calls, muzzleloaders and powder horns. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1950-1952 with the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War.
James is remembered with love by his beloved son, "JD" James David Dudley (Anita) of McCordsville; grandchildren Ryan Caudill of Rising Sun, IN and Alan Caudill of Greenfield; a brother "Pete" Melvin B. Dudley Jr. ( Nellie) of Bloomington; very dear friend of family Linda Droege and several nieces ,nephews and cherished cousins also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his devoted wife Patricia Joan (Marks) Dudley in 2001; a brother Norval Jack Dudley and sister-in-law Joyce Dudley.
Funeral Services for James will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North STRD 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with Chaplain Rob Mifflin officiating. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to either Westminster Village North and the American Cancer Society with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
