James H. Duncan, 88, of Farmland, IN died Saturday May 17, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born on April 3, 1920 in Monroe County, TN the son of Johnny R. and Louise (Goforth) Duncan. On August 15, 1942 he married Georgia (Brown) Duncan who preceded him in death.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII. In 1982 he retired from Delco Battery in Muncie. He also previously worked at Chevrolet. He was a member of the UAW 499 and the Delco Battery UAW. He was a member of both the Avondale and the Delco Battery Sympathy Club. He was a member of the Trinity Deliverance Temple Church in Windsor, IN. He enjoyed farming in Randolph County for 50 years. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Jimmy J. Duncan (wife: Gloria) of Farmland, IN; Harold D. Duncan (wife: Jenny) of Farmland, IN; one brother, Herbert Duncan of TN; four grandchildren, Lisa Reeder (husband: Craig) of Farmland, IN; Brian K. Duncan of Winchester, IN; JoAnn Gooding of Katy, TX; Christie Sprinkle (husband: Scott) of Westfield, IN; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob & Jordan Duncan; Danielle Reeder; Dorinda Gooding; Austin Riles; Alivia, Gavin & Lindsey Sprinkle; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers, Henry R. Duncan; Charlie Duncan; John H. Duncan; Sister, Isabelle Summey.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday May 22, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Leonard Bryant and Pastor Rusty Clements will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
