James Edward Hann, 89 of Muncie, died early Monday morning, September 26th, 2016 at Signature Healthcare. He was born August 5th, 1927 in Muncie and was the son of the late J. Ed & Gertrude Lucinda (Rees) Hann.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. He retired after 47 years of dedicated service from Borg Warner. James was a member of The Garden of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, IOOF #345 of Yorktown, Local #287 Autoworkers Union, Borg Warner Sympathy Club and a senior bowler at Munsee Lanes. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.
James is survived by his wife of 28 years Hazel M. Spidel-Hann (Parnell) of Muncie; a daughter Joy Jean Hann of Bluffton; a step-daughter Sharon R. Glenn (James) of Selma; two step-sons Scott W. Spidel Jr. (Lauradell) of El Paso, TX and Roger E. Spidel of Muncie; eight grandchildren Doug Springer of Bristol, IN, Chad Springer of Cutler, IN, Melissa Martin of Muncie, Scott W. Spidel III of El Paso, TX, Shannon Hernandez of El Paso, TX, Heather K. Wilson of Muncie, Heather Wade of Phoenix , AZ, and Kathleen Wilson of Anderson; seventeen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; a sister Fay Beaty (Frank) of Parker City; a son-in-law Kennard Springer of Bringhurst, IN and a sister-in-law Doris Hann of New Castle. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Carleen G. Hann (Cronin) in April of 1987, a daughter Caren D. Springer in August of 2014, an infant son James D. Hann, and a brother Richard Hann in July of 1980.
Funeral Services for James will be held Friday, September 30th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at The Garden of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 1201 West McGalliard, Muncie with Rev. Vickie Perkins and Pastor Tony Collins officiating. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the Delaware County Honor Guard at Elm Ridge Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 29th, 2016 at Garden View Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Garden of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
