James Jim'' Edwin Holmberg, 82, was called home to the Lord on Monday, February 8, 2010. Jim passed away at Westminster Village in Muncie. Jim, the son of the late John E. and Lora Bell (Rayburn) Holmberg, was born on October 8, 1927, in Detroit, MI. Jim was a 1946 graduate of Dunkirk High School. On December 26, 1948 Jim married the love of his life, Olive Beouy.
Jim worked at Chevrolet for 32 years as a job setter, foreman, and an operator. He retired in 1983. Jim was also a longtime member of Mt. Olive Community Church; was an avid golfer at Lakeview Greens; was the 2009 Club Champion; had three hole-in-ones after the age of 65; and was also a Scoutmaster of Troop 15 in Harrison Township for many years.
Surviving relatives include Jim''s loving wife of 61 years, Olive Holmberg; their three children: Michael Holmberg (wife, Linda) of Gaston; Gregory Holmberg (wife, Dorothy) of Muncie; and Steve Holmberg of Muncie; four grandchildren: Jeff Holmberg (wife, Diana); Andy Holmberg (wife, Jen); Lora Maxwell (husband, Steve); and Amy Acton (husband, Brad); eight great-grandchildren: Kiersten Maxwell; Hannah Holmberg; Grace Holmberg; Landon Maxwell; Evan Holmberg; Luke Holmberg; Madelyn Acton; and Kaitlyn Acton.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Louise Batten.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN as well as on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Rodney Eiler officiating. Private burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. Memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Olive Community Church, 5000 N. Nebo 400 W., Muncie, IN.
