James Dester Jones, 92, of Yorktown, IN died Sunday December 13, 2009 at Liberty Village in Muncie, IN. He was born on June 23, 1917 in Pineknot, KY the son of Albert E. and Mary (Crabtree) Jones. On December 20, 1941 he married Lucille (Burnett) Jones.
He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the Avondale Sympathy Club in Muncie, IN.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife Lucille Jones of Muncie, IN; one son, Ron M. Jones, Sr. (wife: Nona) of Cape Coral, FL; one daughter, Brenda L. Phelps (husband: Robert) of Muncie, IN; two grandchildren, Ron M. Jones, Jr. (wife: Angie) of Cape Coral, FL; Jeffery Shane Phelps of Muncie, IN; one great-grandchild Darvie Chevon Jones of Cape Coral, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Thursday December 17, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Hoyt Davis will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 at the funeral home.
