James Udell Kendrick, Jr., 83, of Hartford City, passed away Sunday evening, March 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 24, 1934 in Edinburg, Texas and was the son of the late James Udell., Sr. & Laura Evelyn (Baucum) Kendrick.

James married Phyllis Jean Hess on October 23, 1954 and is survived by her after 63 years of marriage. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy. James retired from AT&T after 37 ½ years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Elks, Moose and Eagles Clubs. James was a present member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, American Legion, and Amvets Clubs.

James is survived by his loving wife Phyllis Jean Kendrick (Hess) of Hartford City; a son John D. Kendrick of New Bloomfield, MO; two daughters Jean A. Hughes (Tracy) of Hartford City and Julie D. Russell (Jeff) of Carlisle, OH; grandchildren Jacquey, Dasha, Jimi, Jeni, Alex, Jennifer, Kyle, Victoria, Jake ,James, John and Lydia; great-grandchildren Jace, Peyote, Vincent, Jayden, Brilynn, Gavin, Kaylee, Colton, Paige, Nicole, Jacob, Briana and Zoie; a brother Windell Stevens (Rita); two sisters Mattie Cullon (Mickey) and Nancy Weatherford (John). In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Darlene and his brothers Clyde, Glen, Elton, and Gary Stevens.
