James Clarence Lowery, 94, of Muncie, died early Tuesday morning, July 9th, 2013 at Albany Health & Rehabilitation. He was born June 1st, 1919 in Jamestown, TN, and was the son of the late Joel & Sarah Lena (Bertram) Lowery.
James honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. While in the Navy from April 5th, 1943 through December 1st, 1945 he served in the Asiatic-Pacific and Philippine Liberation, he earned one star, and a Bronze Star. James loved to read books, ride motorcycles, and watch sports.
James is survived by his son, Marvin Lowery (Diana) of Eaton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years Evelyn Lowery on July 3rd, 2010; a son Thomas R. Lowery on June 6th, 1987; and two sisters Clata Rhea Clark and Betty Ruth Allen.
Funeral Services for James will be held Monday, July 15th, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Toby Smith officiating. Burial will follow with military honors conducted by the United States Navy and the Delaware County Honor Guard in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. up unto the time of the service at 12:00 noon.
