James S. Minner, 70, of Eaton, IN went home to be with the Lord, Thursday April 28, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on July 21, 1940 the son of Thomas Dewey and Mollie (Chandler) Minner. On August 5, 1961 he married Ruth A. (Rowley) Minner who survives.
He was a member of the Redkey Community Baptist Church and was a song leader at the church for twenty-five plus years. After over 29 years he retired from Brodericks as a tool scheduler. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Ruth A. Minner of Eaton, IN; three children, Jolene Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama; James Melvin Minner and daughter-in-law, Kathy Minner of Eaton, IN; Mollie Jane Lowe of Eaton, IN; three sisters, Orpha Jane Eskew; Barbara Holstein; Judith Holstein all of West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jessica Minner; Gracie Minner; Julia Lewis; Ethan Lewis; Jacob Lowe (Amanda); Brandi Lowe; and JT Lowe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Dewey and Mollie Minner and two brothers, Jerry Minner and Hansford Minner.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday May 2, 2011 at the Redkey Community Baptist Church in Redkey, IN. Pastor Everett Bilbrey and Arnold Burris will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN.
