James C. "Ping" Trego, age 72, of Muncie, passed away Wednesday, July 27 at Morrison Woods Healthcare Campus. He was born September 28, 1938 in Muncie to Earl and Bertha VanBuskirk Trego. He graduated from Muncie Central High School with the Class of 1957. Jim was a meat cutter at Marhoefer Packing for 20 years and retired from Borg-Warner after 20 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Olive Community Church and he loved gardening as well as painting, sculpting and woodworking. He cherished the time he spent with his family and will be sorely missed.
Jim married the former Rose Ann Shull on December 14, 1958, and she survives along with his son, Jeffrey (Judy) Trego, of Markleville, IN; daughter, Amanda Trego, of Muncie; step grandsons, Jim (Laura) Houser of Indianapolis, and Steve Houser of New Castle; step great grandchildren, Sabrina, Ethan, Allie, and Ty Houser; brother Robert (Carolyn) Trego, of Selma, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Earl Trego and sister, Virginia Adams.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 1, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3 Muncie, 47304 with Pastors Rodney Eiler and Mike Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 31 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor''s choice.
