James R. Stephens 79, of Muncie, IN. passed away Saturday June 7, 2008 at his home. James was born May 17, 1929 in Fentress County, TN. the son of Gilbert Stephens and Myrtle (Conatser) Stephens. On August 2, 1953 he married Anna I. Stephens (Reynolds) who survives him. James was a member of the Delco Sympathy Club.
Surviving relatives include a wife Anna Stephens of Muncie, IN. Two sons Jack Stephens (wife Carol) of Muncie, IN. James Stephens of Muncie, IN. Two Daughters Betty Stephens of Muncie, IN. Kay Dake (husband Keith) of Louisiana. Two brothers Roy Stephens of TN. Charles Stephens of Jamestown TN. Seven sisters Evelyn Hembre (husband Glenn) of Allardt, TN. Elmarene Harris of Alexandra, IN. Rosie Wright of Hagerstown, IN. Katherine Delk of Jamestown, TN. Phyllis Stockton (husband Roy) of TN. Lois Ann Koger of TN. Mayzell Ritter of TN. Seven grand children Mike Stephens, Melanie Carper, Tony Stephens, Deena Stephens, Kimberly Tourere, Chris Tuttle and James Tuttle. Twelve great grand children and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are parents, one son Johnny Stephens, one grandson Kenneth Matthew Reynolds and one sister Thelma Stephens. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday June 11, 2008 at the Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North state Road 3 Muncie IN 47303. Pastor Dennis Trimble will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery Muncie. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 11, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ball Memorial Hospice; envelopes can be picked up at the funeral home.
