James (Herman) Reno, 71, of Muncie, IN slipped away peacefully Thursday November 25, 2010 at Integra Specialty Hospital in Muncie, IN. He was born on September 24, 1939 in Sunnybrook, KY the son of Quitman Beatty and Vera Jean (Dishman) Reneau. He graduated from Royerton High School in 1958 and served three years in the U.S. Army. On May 14, 1966 he married Nancy (Crisp) Reno at the Northside Church of God in Muncie.
James loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his two grandsons. He worked at Midwest Towel Linen for over 20 years and also retired a few years ago as a correctional officer for the Indiana DOC. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors. He was also a science fiction buff. He enjoyed talking to others and it seemed as if he never met a stranger.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Nancy Reno of Muncie, IN; two sons and one daughter, Mark Reno (Stephenie); Scott Reno both of Muncie, IN; Michele Reno (companion: Eric Pope) of Indianapolis, IN; three brothers, Edmund Reno (Loretta) of Muncie, IN; Roger Reno (Margaret) of Gaston, IN; Larry Reno (Cindy) of Selma, IN; one sister, Gertie Martin (Don) of Muncie, IN; two grandsons, Zachary Reno and Immanuel Pope both of Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday November 29, 2010 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
