James William Senecal, 88, of Muncie, IN, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Rosemary. He was born on January 18, 1921 in Hartford City, IN, the son of the late Maurice and Mary E. Senecal. Jim was raised by his mother and step-father, Wade Nottingham. Jim graduated from Royerton High School in 1940. On December 16, 1942 Jim married Rosemary J. Baker.
Jim was a motor machinist''s mate second class in WWII, serving from 1942-1945. Jim later was employed with Ball Brothers as a mold maker from November 20, 1945 to June 30, 1981, retiring thereafter. Jim was known as an all-around handyman with many talents. He also enjoyed camping, motorcycling, beading, creating stained-glass pieces, leather tooling, and fishing. He also traveled extensively with Rosemary in their motor home. His favorite places to camp were Oklahoma and Texas. Jim was also a lifetime member of the AMVETS.
Jim is survived by his two daughters: Mary Ann Kuhns (husband, Jack) of Muncie; and Rose Marie Burchfield (husband, Charles) of Muncie; six grandchildren: John Kuhns (wife, Melinda) of Greenwood, IN; Diana Martin (husband, Ryan) of Muncie; Christopher Carmichael (wife, Cari) of Fort Wayne, IN; Sarah Carmichael-Miller (husband, Jason) of Louisville, KY; Doug Burchfield of Oklahoma; and Dennis Burchfield, of Phoenix, AZ; ten great-grandchildren: Tyler Kuhns; Courtney and Skyler Abernathy; Kaya and Tala Carmichael; Quinn Miller; Crystal VanHorn; Hunter and Landon Martin; and Jaelynn Soileau; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary; father; mother; step-father; and two sisters.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 3, 2010, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, IN. A funeral service will be on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will be at Jones Cemetery in Yorktown with Military honors given by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
