James Syphers, 65, of Muncie, IN died at 12:50 p.m. on June 22, 2007 at his residence in Muncie. He was born on May 13, 1942 in Muncie, the son of Thoburn and Lola (Parkhurst) Syphers. In 1960, he graduated from Muncie Central High School. After 35 years of service, he retired from Warner Gear in 1997. On October 26, 2002 he married Emily (Minnick) Syphers who survives.
James was a member of the New Horizon Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and building things.
Surviving relatives include his wife Emily Syphers of Muncie; one daughter, Heather Meadors (Jack) of Muncie; one son, Jeremiah Syphers (Clara) of Rutledge, TN; one step-daughter, Jeanett Nissley of Milford, IN; four step-sons, Micheal Pryor (Amy) of Muncie; Andy Pryor (Tina) of Yorktown, IN; Richard Nissley (Trina) of Elkhart, IN and Steven Nissley (Kelly) of Milford, IN; one brother, Harold White of Muncie; two sisters, Barbara Davis (Jim) of Lafayette, IN and Sandra Bailey of Muncie, IN; three grandchildren, Cassidy Meadors, Kaden Meadors, Joshua Syphers; and 20 step-grandchildren. Also surviving is a special nephew, Gene White, and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and one son, Joshua Syphers.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 26, 2007 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Jerry Vannatter and Pastor Mike Konkley will officiate. Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be Monday June 25, 2007 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Southern Care Hospice in memory of James Syphers. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
