James Watters, 85, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Millers Merry Manor in Hartford City, IN.
He was born on Sunday, January 6, 1924, in Stearns, KY.
Mr. Watters retired in 1984 from Indiana Grain, Dunkirk, IN and had also worked at the Job Core Center in Pine Knot, KY as a driver for three years. He had also worked at Indiana Veneer in Montpelier, IN for thirteen years.
Mr. Watters served in the European Theatre Campaign in WW II serving in France & Germany and also at Normandy Beach. He served from 1942-1946.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10929-Montpelier, IN. He enjoyed camping, fishing and Blue Grass music. He attended Westside United Baptist Church in Muncie, IN. He married Dorotha (Winchester) Watters on September 8, 1943 in Stearns, Kentucky. She passed away November 14, 2009. He was the son of the late John Marion Watters and the late Dina (Watson) Watters.
Survivors include his daughters, Flora Jean (husband, Tim) McCoin of Hartford City, Marsha Phillips of Montpelier, Clessie Reynolds of Arlington, Texas, Patricia Costa of Melrose, Mass., Loretta Lynn Prowse of Arlington, Texas, Kathy (husband, Jerry) McClain of Liberty Center; sons, Rolen Watters of Marion, James (wife, Annette) Watters, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Darrell Watters of Arlington, Texas, David Watters of Arlington, Texas; half sister, Marjorie Watson of Cumberland Falls, Ky; thirty grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha (Winchester) Watters; father, John Marion Watters; mother, Dina (Watson) Watters; one brother; son-in-law. Tracy Phillips; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Joint funeral services for James & Dortha will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home.

Joint visitations for James and Dortha will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at the funeral home.

Graveside military rites will be conducted at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN.
