Janet Carolyn Dixon Schnelle passed away in her home with family on Monday June 5, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born to John Hunt Stafford and Marie Weaver Stafford, in Dunkirk, IN on April 10, 1933.
Janet attended Dunkirk High School. Janet was employed by Delaware Community School Corporation for many years as a Primetime aid, at Eaton and Albany elementary schools, North Del and Delta middle schools. Her greatest joy was her family.
Janet had many hobbies that included gardening and her Santa Claus collection, many of which she hand-painted. She took great pride in her yard and many beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed painting, ceramics, woodcrafting, basket making, and cross stitch. She loved traveling to visit her children in various states: Washington state, Florida, and Chicago, Il.
She is preceded in death by parents and her beloved stepmother; Carmen H. Stafford, her husband; Virgil Schnelle, her ex husband and father of her children; John Dixon Sr, her daughter; Jane Ellen Dixon, her stepbrother and his wife; Keith and Ruth Kegerreis, her Sister in law and her husband; Dick and Margaret Ford.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her seven children; David (Becky)Dixon, Cheryl Feeney, Nancy Miller, Carolyn (Terry) Lang, all of Indiana, John Dixon, Jr, Florida, Darlene (Dick) Weiss, Washington State, Bob (Sally) Dixon, Illinois .
Step children; Neva (Jim) Rowan and Jenine (Ron) Fanning of Ohio. Eleven grandchildren and nine step grandchildren ; Courtney Posada, Andrew Dixon, Matthew Dixon, Marc (fiancé; Lauren) Feeney, Colton Weiss, Zachary (Tamahra) Weiss, Aaron (Sarah) Richardson, Jill Lang, Will Dixon, Edward ( fiancé; Skylee) Miller, Seth (fiancé; Jenny) Miller, Shawn (Sonya) Craig, Josh (Mindy) Craig, Dulcie Craig, Zach(Jen) Craig, Jennifer (Frank) Hammond, Tony (fiancé; Grace) Fanning, Tracy (Dan )Wilker, Jim Rowan, Alex Rowan. 9 great- grand children and 22 step great-grand children and a host of other family and friends who all will miss her dearly.
Arrangements are provided by Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 11:00 am until the service at 2 pm, with her nephew, Reverend Jeff Ford, officiating. This will be followed by a graveside service at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, State Road 3N, Muncie, In 47303.
The family would like to Thank Compassus Hospice. Also, a thank you to mom's, special friend, Annella Dixon. Thank you to her caregivers who were Friends and became like family to her, Vanessa, Lisa, Sam, Christy, and Tabitha. I know she loved you all.
