IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice Louise
Bailey
February 1, 1937 – August 20, 2023
Mrs. Janice Louise (Eppard) Bailey, age 86, passed away on August 20, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. She was born February 1, 1937 the daughter of Elmer and Edna Eppard.
Janice was one of 14 children in a large and loving family. She married Chester A. Bailey Sr. on December 20, 1956. Married 67 years, Janice and Chet raised six children and farmed in rural Delaware County near Granville, operating Bailey Farms until their retirement.
Janice's life was marked by a deep love for her family, which included 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, she never met a stranger and treated everyone as family with an infectious laugh. She was never without a smile on her face. She loved birds, coffee and old westerns (which she could quote line-for-line). Adult children who had not visited her recently received a loving swat on the bottom and a reprimand: "you better come see me".
Janice leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband and best friend, Chester A. Bailey Sr.; two sons, Chester A. (Allen) Bailey (Dawn) and Thomas F. Bailey (Susie); three daughters, Cindy L. Hedges, Laura P. Clevenger (Jim) and Mary J. Bailey-Jones (Tim); 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Rudy Eppard (Elaine), Elmer Eppard and sisters, Doris Bailey, Wanda Coates, Carolyn DeWalt (Wayne) and Judy Oliver as well as many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jackie L. Garrett; her grandson, Jamie Bailey; her parents, Elmer and Edna Eppard; brothers, Virgil, Robert, Lewis, and Jim (who was her twin); sisters, Tresa, Beulah, Phyllis and her in-laws, Fred and Ethel Bailey.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 24th, 2023 in the mausoleum chapel at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the mausoleum chapel at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery prior to the services.
