Janice I. Poor, 72, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the family residence in Muncie following an extended illness.
She was born November 30, 1936, in Muncie, the daughter of Paul F. and Gertrude (Lindsey) Mills. She attended schools in Muncie and graduated from Muncie Central in 1954.
Janice was a retired hairdresser.
She loved to travel, especially to Washington D.C., and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and enjoyed going to union and political conventions, and country music fanfares. She also enjoyed to read, to crochet, and loved the ocean and especially loved family gatherings.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 104, Murpah Shrine Club, Ladies of the Moose, and the Foxy Ladies of Modern Lady's, all of Muncie.
Surviving are her husband of nearly forty-two years, Gerald Poor; three sisters, Marge Patton, (husband, Jack), Penny Nelson, (husband, Gary), and Jackie Tuttle, (husband, Larry, who is deceased), all of Muncie; her brother, Paul Mills, Jr., (wife, Ruth), Colorado; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, including her cousin, Irene Poore, and friends Phyllis Hannon, Marcia Amburn and Virginia Taylor.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, at Parson Mortuary with Dr. Ronald Ross officiating.
Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and an hour prior to the services on Monday at the mortuary.
