Obituary

Janis Lyne (Clevenger) Scott (67), born November 19, 1951 to Max B. and Evelyn (Baker) Clevenger passed away after a battle with cancer on November 26, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Janis was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was married to the love of her life, Joe Scott, for 48 years.  She was the proud mother of Jennifer (Scott) Smith (Richard) of Muncie, IN, Joyce (Scott) King of Muncie, IN, and Jeffrey Scott (Tiffany) of Hartford City, IN.  Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Jordan Scott, Evan Smith, Adian Smith, Hunter King, Lynsie King, Andrew Osborn, Nicholas Osborn, and Chyanne Osborn.

Janis was a graduate of Wes-Del High School.  She attended and was a member of Redkey Faith Ministries, where she volunteered her time to Kids Hope USA, fundraisers, missions, and other activities.  She was dedicated to 4-H. She helped organize and run the Delaware County Open Dairy show, and volunteered for the Open Swine Show, the Delaware County Farm Festival, and the Indiana State Fair where she helped make cracklins in the Pioneer Village.

Janis enjoyed life.  She was known for her laughter and whistling, which were both very distinct.  She loved to be with people and making them laugh.

Janis was also known for being a wonderful cook and for her creativity.  She enjoyed sewing, crafts, crochet, cake decorating, tole painting, and most of all showing livestock.  Her passion was working with cattle and watching her grandkids show their livestock.

Janis was an extremely helpful person and was always willing to assist anyone in need.  She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her four sisters Phyllis Johnson (Shannon), Suzanne Norris, Ann Meyer, and Cindy Holaday (Larry) and two brothers Max (Gene) Clevenger and Mike Clevenger.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pat Haffner (Paul), and her two brothers Buford (Dee) Clevenger (Ann), Darwin Clevenger (Betty), her nephew Sammi Norris, her brother-in-law Carol Meyer, and her mother and father-in-law Jaunita and James T. Scott.

The family would like to send out a sincere thank you to Compassus Hospice and everyone else who assisted them throughout this journey. Your compassion, kindness, and selflessness have meant more than you know.
