Jean E. Koons, 89, of Parker City, passed away at 8:00 pm, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Parker Health & Rehabilitation in Parker City. She was born in Muncie, Indiana, on January 17, 1937, to Edgar F. and Donna M. (Dean) Deilkes. She married James “Jim” Koons on October 25, 1961, and he preceded her in death.

She graduated from Cowan High School, class of 1955 and went on to receive her associate’s degree in business. Jean held a few small part-time jobs and was a loving homemaker for most of her life.

Jean loved to bowl and was a good pitcher in softball. She loved her Cincinnati Reds and watching Gun Smoke. She liked attending to her family’s activities and reunions. She also liked to play games or work puzzles, painting, and collecting antiques.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Angela) Koons and daughter, Tracy (Wayne) Johnson; grandchildren, William (Tru), Jerrod (Sarah), Nita (Andrew), Justin, Malia, Mallory (Zach), Jason (Sloan), Regan, and Riley; great-grandchildren, Bryella, Hadlee, Emelia, and Elijah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of over 50 years, James “Jim” Koons.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to wonderful staff at Parker Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN 47303.

A funeral service will follow immediately after at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Holt officiating.

Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
