Jeannie Cox, 71, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness.
She was born February 1, 1938 in Jamestown, Tennessee, the daughter of James A. and Ruby R. (Franklin) Garrett. Jeannie graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1956.
She was employed and retired from Dillard's Department Store, Farmington, New Mexico and had also worked at Payless Supermarket. Jeannie was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Beta Sigma Phi, Seroptimist International, Women of the Moose, and Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Cox; four children, Johnny Alderman, (wife-Peggy), Indianapolis, Jerry Alderman, (fianc-Janetta Carter), Muncie, Kevin Cox, Muncie, and Cindy Cox, Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Andy Goth, Carla, Megan, and Cory Alderman, and Lindsay Walker; one great grandson, Gavin Phillips and three brothers, Tom Garrett, (wife-Barb), Jack Garrett, (wife-Beth), and Don Garrett, (wife-Holly), all of Muncie, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Rev. Dick Clough officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie.
