Jerry Chester Armstrong, 69, of Dunkirk died early Sunday morning, May 6th, 2012 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born February 21st, 1943 in Muncie, IN and was the son of the late James Chester & Myrtle Lee (Kaufman) Armstrong. Jerry was a loving husband and father, which loved his family very much. He enjoyed Nascar Racing, primitive camping, and was an avid gun collector. He retired after 44 years of service from Indiana Glass. Jerry was a member of the Moose, Elks, and American Legion in Dunkirk. He was a member of the Redkey Masonic Lodge. Jerry proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army while being stationed in France. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Bette Jean (Martin) Armstrong; one son Dale Shaw (Jan) of Orlando, FL.; four daughters, Laurie Whitaker of Las Vegas, NV., Jeanette Livingston (Dan) of Mt. Summit, IN., Cindy Yaney (Brian) of Muncie, IN., and Tanya Faris (Ted) of Sulphur Springs, IN.; one brother Delmar L. Armstrong (Carolyn) of Dunkirk, IN.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother Daniel and an adult brother Alfred Armstrong. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 14th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Garden View Funeral Home with Revs. Woody Sears and Norman Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors provided by the Dunkirk American Legion Post # 227 Honor Guard. Friends may call Sunday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Lodge of Sorrow Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday by the Redkey AF & AM Halfway 298 Lodge.
