It is with deep sadness and heartfelt respect that we announce the passing of Pastor Jerry Wayne Blevins, who left this world peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Muncie, Indiana. Born on July 30, 1951, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky to the late Paul Ray Blevins and Emma Rae Overley. Jerry led a life marked by devotion to faith, family, and service.
Jerry dedicated over four decades of his life to pastoral work, founding Higher Praise Ministries in 1988 and passionately establishing new churches across the country, touching countless lives with his guidance and spiritual leadership. Beyond his calling as a pastor, he served his country honorably, completing two years in Vietnam with the Army. His commitment to service extended into his community as he faithfully served as a Chaplain with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and was a proud member of the American Legion Post 19.
Early in life, Jerry developed a love for music, playing the guitar since the age of five and later mastering the piano. He found joy in nurturing his hobbies, including building model airplanes, reflecting his talents and interests. Before his life’s work in ministry, he also worked as a truck driver, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication in all endeavors.
Jerry’s life was deeply intertwined with his beloved family. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Blevins; their son, Asa Blevins; and daughter, Danielle Batchler, all residing in Muncie, Indiana. He was a cherished grandfather to Keyle (Steven), Keshon, and Kevon, and a proud great-grandfather to: Sy'Mire, Lavynder, Emie, Kyrie, Tyrie, Na'Keyla, Bentley, Meilani, and Marcy; brothers, Jim (Nancy) Blevins of Tampa, Florida; sisters, Judy (Al) of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and June (Bob) of Dayton, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews who stand alongside the family in their mourning and remembrance.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and Johnny; and sister, Jeanie.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Garden View Funeral Home located at 10501 IN-3, Muncie, Indiana, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Eaton Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM at the same location. Burial will immediately follow services at Garden of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. IN-3, Muncie, Indiana.
Jerry Wayne Blevins’s legacy of faith, love for family, and commitment to service will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spiritual leadership, musical gifts, and warm presence will remain in the hearts of his community. We honor and remember a life lived with purpose and grace.
