Jerry Ray Justice, 82, left on Saturday, May 12, 2012, to take his final trip home to his heavenly Father after a brief illness at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Muncie, Indiana on June 23, 1929 to Dwight and Pauline (Hofher) Justice. As a 1948 graduate from Muncie Central High School, Jerry played football and basketball during his high school years. He worked at New Venture Gear in Muncie, Indiana, for 29 ½ year and retired in 1991. He was an active member of High Street United Methodist Church.
He is survived by the love of his life Nondius (Peck) who were married for 63 years and made their home in Selma. Together they had two children, Mike Justice (wife, Terri) of Gas City and Debbie Crockett (fianc, Ray Muncey). He also is survived by three grandchildren; Camie Carpenter (husband, David) of Selma, Kim Falk (husband, Roger) of Edgewater, Florida and Michael Justice (wife, Jill) of Muncie; five great grandchildren; Tyler Falk, Nicole Falk, Riley Carpenter, Jacob Carpenter and Weston Justice; a surviving sister; Phyllis Hodshire of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; a sister, Jo Anna Hensley; a brother, Dwight Justice and a grandson, Shane Carpenter.
Jerry will be known as a fun loving person who deeply loved his family. He will be remembered by all as always having a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. With a happy-go-lucky attitude, you can hear Jerry proclaim himself to those he knew as "Mr. Nice Guy". Family and friends will indeed agree this to be a true fact. Jerry never met a stranger and had something nice to say to all he came in contact with. With a passion for traveling, he was always ready for that next trip.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie.
