Obituary

Jerry L. King, 87, of Muncie, passed away at 2:15 am, on January 21, 2026, at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.  He was born in Jamestown, Tennessee, on November 22, 1938, to Obie L. and Roxy (Crabtree) King.  He married Joyce N. King, who preceded him in death in 2025.

Jerry graduated from Central High School and later attended Ball State University.  He was in the United States Army where he served in Germany from 1956 to 1960.  He was a Gear Metrology Engineer for GM – New Venture Gear for 40+ years in Muncie until his retirement in 2002.

Jerry was an talented athlete since childhood and enjoyed playing golf, bowling, baseball, and basketball and racquetball at the YMCA.  He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls, the then Baltimore Colts and watching college basketball.  If the TV was on in his later years, he was watching his westerns or you'd find him watching Youtube golf lessons.  He loved traveling and enjoyed flying to Europe with his wife, Joyce.

He is survived his son, Erick King; brothers David (JoAnne) King and Bob King; nieces and nephews, Lisa, David, Debbie, Patty, and Sheila.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Obie and Roxy King; wife, Joyce King; brother, Eugene; and sisters, Willodena and Edaline.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 IN-3, Muncie, Indiana 47303.
