Jerry B. Sewell, 74, of Muncie, died Sunday evening, July 20th, 2014 at his residence. He was born January 27th, 1940 in Jamestown, TN and was the son of the late Chesley Willie & Nellie (Terry) Sewell.
Jerry retired in 1989 from Borg Warner as a stock chaser. He was an avid fisherman, woodworker, and enjoyed working on lawn mowers. He had owned and operated his own upholstery shop. Jerry was a member of Riverview United Baptist Church in Albany.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Zula Faye (Minix) Sewell, whom he married on March 18th , 1960; two daughters Charlene Kay Lynn (Mark) of Muncie, and Karen Lynn Sewell of Daleville; a son Gary Wayne Sewell (Sally) of Muncie; six grandchildren, Christina Lynn-Wright (Todd New) of Muncie, Jessica Lynn (Daniel Ramey) of Muncie, Nathan Maxwell (Becky) of Ft. Jackson, SC, Josh Maxwell (Kay) of Muncie, Amy Maxwell (Stephen Masters) of Anderson, and Derek Sewell of Muncie; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Durham (Jim) of Winchester, and Judy Winchester (Jack) of Muncie; three brothers, Richard Sewell (Sharon) of Fort Wayne, Earnest Sewell (DeAnn) of Albany, and David Sewell (Pam) of Portland; a sister-in-law Beverly Sewell of Muncie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Betty Louks; two brothers, Rev. James Sewell, and Jack Sewell, and a grandson Joseph Sewell.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held Thursday, July 24th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastors DeWayne Loveless and Carl Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014 and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to staff members Nurse Diane, Nurse Michelle & Helen Boyatt from Southern Care Hospice and to Home Instead Home Care.
