Jerry Ward, 74, of New Castle , IN died 7:34 a.m. Tuesday October 16, 2007 at Renaissance Specialty Hospital in Muncie . He was born on September 10, 1933 in Missouri the son of Frank and Ellen (Fowler) Ward. On May 13, 1955 in Tampa , FL he married Lila (McCubbins) Ward who survives.
He was a Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Marines for 15 months and 4 days in Combat.
He had been employed with Nicholson File in Anderson for 12 years. He retired in 1994 from Warner Gear of Muncie after 16 ½ years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 52 years, Lila Ward of New Castle, IN; two sons and three daughters, Kris Olin (husband: Randy) of Middletown, IN; John Ward (wife: Sheri) of New Castle, IN; Geraldine Smith (husband: Randy) of Brookville, IN; Joseph Ward (wife: Sandy) of New Castle, IN; Ellen McClurg of Kentucky; two sisters, Myrt McCubbins of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Alberta Lewis of Sarasota, FL; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday October 19, 2007 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Jim Harless will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie . Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
