Jesse W. Terry, 91, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009, at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 22, 1917, in Muncie, the son of Luther Willard and Emma Mae (DeWitt) Terry, and attended Muncie schools.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Terry lived most of his life in Muncie except for seventeen years he and his wife lived in Hudson, Florida.
He was employed at Delco Battery for thirty two years and had built numerous homes in the Muncie area.
Mr. Terry was a member of The Lighthouse of Jesus Christ and the Delco Sympathy Club.
He was an avid bowler, loved to dance, play pool and go fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Esta Mae (Wood) Terry, to whom he had been married forty-six years; his daughter, Lois Terry, (husband, David Terry), Selma; two sons, Tom Terry, (wife, Sue), and Jerry Terry, (wife, Linda), all of Muncie; four step-daughters, Linda Hamill, (husband, Robert), Adair, Oklahoma, Deanna Robertson, (husband, Frank), Nancy Hines, (husband, John), and Judy Cougill, all of Muncie; thirty-eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Willard Lee Terry; three daughters, Phyllis Knotts, Betty Rosales and Mary Jane Davis; two step-children, Marilyn Ent and Melvin Koontz; two brothers, Otto and Francis Terry; and two sisters, Pauline Terry and Margaret Lambert.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parson Mortuary with Rev. Kevin Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the services at the mortuary on Tuesday.
