Obituary

Jill Marie (Verneman) Mercer, 57, of Muncie, IN, passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 at her residence with family by her side. She was born on June 10, 1952 in Muncie to the late Hearld E. and Beverly M. (Timmons) Verneman. On February 7, 1970 Jill married Mark D. Mercer.
Jill was a homemaker. She also worked at Candle Creations, Macy''s, and Kat''s Corner, all within the Muncie Mall. Jill was also a member of True Light Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher. Jill also enjoyed shopping; crocheting; bowling with the Christian Fellowship League; pontoon boating; fishing; and enjoying the company of her grandchildren.
Jill is survived by her loving husband, Mark, of 39 years; son Mark Allen Mercer of Gilbert, AZ; daughter Tara Jefferis (husband, David) of Muncie; granddaughter Victoria Jefferis; grandson Tyler Jefferis; step-mother Linda Verneman of Muncie; father-in-law James Mercer (wife, Mae) of Muncie; brother-in-law Tim Mercer (wife, Mary Mercer) of Illinois; brother-in law Harvey Mercer (wife, Debbie) of Muncie; brother-in-law Phillip Mercer (wife, Donna) of Longview, TX; brother-in-law Delbert Hale of Muncie; several step-siblings; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jill was preceded in death by her parents; son Eric Leon Mercer; and sister Beverley Hale. . Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2010, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m at True Light Baptist Church, 805 N. Country Club Rd, Muncie,IN. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at True Light Baptist Church on Wednesday with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. Memorial contributions may be made to The Little Red Door Cancer Services of East Central Indiana, 401 W. Jackson St., Muncie, IN 47305 and/or The Cancer Center at Ball Memorial Hospital, 2401 W. University Ave., Muncie, IN 47303.
