Obituary

Jimmie Clark Stohler, 78, passed away Friday afternoon, October 23, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Anderson, the son of Clark and Lucile Markle Stohler, graduated from Markleville High School, later attended Purdue University, and spent most of his life in this area.
Mr. Stohler was employed in the Delaware County Assessor's office for more than sixteen years prior to his retirement. Earlier, Jimmie was employed with several building supply companies.
He was a member of Muncie Moose Lodge #33, Muncie, Magic City Music Men, and the Anderson Elks Lodge # 209. Mr. Stohler was also active at Forrest Park Elementary Parent Teachers Association and was a past president, was a member and past president of the Southside High School Band Boosters, active with Summer Heat for many years and volunteered with the Muncie Home Builders. Jimmie was an avid traveler with his wife on cruise ships.
Surviving are his wife of more than forty-three years, Joan Tomlinson Stohler; his children, Teresa Knight, (husband, Paul), Jimmie Dean Stohler, Randy Stohler, (wife, Lorri), Devona Cook, (husband, Chris), and Kent Stohler; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Lou Jones, (husband, James) and Janet Leever, (husband, Robert); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Winifred Stohler and Mary Ellen Spaugh; and a brother, Maurice Stohler.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 27th, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd., with Rev. Gerald Burnett officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday, with the Muncie Elks Lodge #33 conducting a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Monday.
