Joanie Gates of Muncie, Indiana passed away at her residence at the age of 59 on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. She was born on June 13, 1961 to the late Robert and Joyce (Pierce) Allen in McKee, Kentucky.

Joanie completed her studies, married Richard Gates, and began her management career in the garment industry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was an animal activist and animal lover. She enjoyed flowers, all types of food, and science fiction movies.

Joanie is survived by her husband, Rick of Muncie, Indiana; son, Timmy Marcum of Kentucky; step-son, Ross Gates of Muncie, Indiana; daughters, Sheena Himes, Patricia Marcum, and Angela Rose, all of Kentucky; sisters, Mindy Bishop, Theresa King, Pat Rimer, Debbie Pruitt, Deanna Shanks, Jo Grubb, and Shelia Sizemore, all of Kentucky; sister-in-law, Kim McCoy of Muncie, Indiana; nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Joanie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joyce (Pierce) Allen in McKee, Kentucky; brother, Steve Allen; and sister, Peggy Rahn.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home.
