Joe Bob Harris, 75, of rural New Castle, died Sunday afternoon, May 18th, 2014 at his residence. He was born November 15th, 1938 in Static, TN, and was the son of the late Bennett L. & Elsie (Storey) Harris.
Joe retired in 1994 from Miracle Tool & Die after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Four High Jeep Club of Anderson. He enjoyed classic cars and the restoration of them. Joe was a graduate of the DeSoto High School. He was a member of the Mooreland Friends Church. Joe was very instrumental in Dry Dock Marina for over 30 years.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Deana Ray Harris (Arment), of New Castle, whom he married August 11th, 1956; three daughters, Chanette J. Harris (Chris Malloy) of Prairie Creek, Mona (Harris) Davis (Charles) of New Castle, and Sara Christy of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Justin Davis, Joe Davis, Bonnie Joslin, and Tiffany Joslin; a sister Asley "Georgia" Rose (Vince) of Elizabethtown, KY; his loving pet dog "Mister". In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Leroy Harris.
Funeral services for Joe will be held Wednesday, May 21st, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North STRD 3 Muncie, with Rev. Brenda Earley officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Henry County Humane Society with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
