John J. Aversano, 72, of Muncie, passed away at his home in Muncie, on Monday, February 10, 2014.
John was born June 23, 1941 in Newark, NJ to the late Carmine and Angelina Aversano. He served in the United Sates Army. John worked for the United Sates Postal Service as a letter carrier for 30 years before his retirement in 1991. He then worked in newspaper delivery for the Muncie Star Press for 20 years. John was a member of the Knights of Pythias, The Eagles Lodge, and the American Legion. He enjoyed NASCAR, bowling, and fishing.
John is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sue Aversano; three children, John A. Aversano of Williston, ND, John Chris Aversano (wife Tracy) of Parker City, and Jennifer Aversano of Muncie; three step-children, Kim Adams (Partner Michael Pearson) of Muncie, Troy Adams of Muncie, and Greg Adams of Sarasota, FL; a sister, Terry Aversano of Winter Park, FL; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John was preceded in death by two brothers, Louie and Joe Aversano.
John''s family would like to specially thank the staff of IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice for their care and Compassion.
A funeral service to celebrate John''s life will be held at 1:00pm Friday, February 14, 2014, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00am to 1:00pm Friday, at Garden View Funeral Home.
