John R. Gooding, 88, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024. Born in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of Virgil R. Gooding and Reba Gooding (Coulter) and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1954.
John loved the outdoors, especially swimming and soaking up the sun. He enjoyed dabbling in piano, journaling, and was a devoted member of Union Chapel Church since 1996. His family, particularly his grandkids, were his greatest joy.
John is survived by his daughter, Rachel Delaney; brothers, Jay Gooding (wife, Gloria) and Jerry Gooding; grandchildren, Tamara Waters (husband, Josh), Keith Callahan, Lori Callahan, Erikah Choate (John), Kiersten Delaney , Austen Delaney, and Madison Delaney; 12 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Jimmie Callahan.
John is preceded in passing by his daughter, Angela Callahan; brothers, Eddie and Jack Gooding; sisters, Marcia Jackson and Carolyn Harrell.
Family and friends may call at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N St. Rd. 3, Muncie IN 47303, on Friday, September 13th, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. The Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with Pastor Glen Greiner officiating at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
