John Robert Griffin, 66, of Muncie, IN died Saturday April 5, 2008 at Renaissance Specialty Hospital in Muncie. He was born on December 5, 1941 in Liberty, IN the son of James Andrew and Thelma (Howard) Griffin.
He was an Indiana University sports fan and enjoyed watching ballgames. He also enjoyed clog dancing. He retired in 2002 from the Muncie Community Schools.
Surviving relatives include two brothers, Michael Griffin of Tampa, FL; Charlie Griffin of Cleveland, TN; six sisters, Edith Shimer of Muncie; Margie Brock of Reno, GA; Helen Ellis of New Castle, IN; Louise Brookhart of Crossville, TN; Betty Ann Vaughn (husband: Delowell) of Cookeville, TN; Jean Hale (husband: Bob) of Crossville, TN; several nieces and nephews, Rita, Donald, Clifton, and David Griffin all of Muncie; Susan Pierce and Steve Pruitt of Muncie; Katie and Chris Griffin of Tampa, FL; Joey Ellis of Hagerstown, IN; one uncle, Donald Griffin of Crossville, TN; several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday April 8, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Dale Workman, Jr. and Pastor John Clegg will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
