John "Jack" Allan Klingensmith, 90 of Muncie, graduated to Heaven early Wednesday morning, February 3rd, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born October 16th, 1925 in New Castle, PA. and was the son of the late Albert H. & Myrtle I. (Remley) Klingensmith.
Jack was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the board of deacons and Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a member of the American Baptist Men''s Fellowship and Muncie Mission Board of Directors. He volunteered as a Billy Graham Crusade counselor, youth camp counselor, and for the Salvation Army food pantry and bell ringers. He belonged to Gideon''s International and Kiwanis International. He served as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, Board of Zoning Authority, Tri County Waste Management Commission, Traffic Board, Republican Party Precinct Committeeman, Voter''s Registration Board, Royerton High School PTA, Royerton, and Delta Band Boosters. Jack proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy as Lieutenant Junior Grade from May, 1943 to February of 1946. He was an Electrical Engineer with Westinghouse for 25 years and Borg-Warner for 21 years.
Jack is survived by a son Timothy A. Klingensmith (Linda); daughters Lynn A. Sciscoe (Tom), Virginia I. Randall, Pamela J. Kirk (Brian), Karen S. Young (Jon), Debra L. Cook (Jeff), daughter-in-law Linda Klingensmith; two brothers Richard Klingensmith and Thomas Klingensmith (Shirley); twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Jack was the patriarch of 88 family members and counting. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Margaret Ann Colvin Klingensmith; a son Terry L. Klingensmith; son-in-law Richard Randall; sister-in-law Betty Klingensmith.
Funeral Services for Jack will be held Tuesday, February 9th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 309 East Adams Street, Muncie, IN 47305, with Dr. Wade Allen officiating. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the Delaware County Honor will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday. February 8th, 2016 at Garden View Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Muncie Mission or The Salvation Army.
