John E. Marlow, 88, passed away Tuesday morning, January 22, 2008, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He was born November 4, 1919, in Sledge, Mississippi, the son of Raleigh and Edna Lemon Marlow. He moved to Anderson with his parents and attended Anderson schools.
He served in the Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart and five Bronze Stars. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and landed at Utah Beach.
Mr. Marlow was a tool and die maker having worked at Warner Gear and retiring from Fisher Body in Marion in 1985. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Muncie, the American Legion in Yorktown and the Muncie Bowling Hall of Fame. An avid bowler he bowled a perfect game of 300 at the age of 78.
Mr. Marlow also enjoyed golfing.
Surviving are four children, Dennis Marlow (companion, Phyllis Kuhl), Muncie, Vicky Gribble, (husband, Mike), Las Vegas, Jeff Marlow, (wife, Debbie), Yorktown, and Tracy Marlow, (wife, Tanya), Gaston; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie D. Hill Marlow, who died in 2006; his grandson, Chad Marlow; a brother and two sisters.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Parson Mortuary with Rev. John Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory where military rites will be conducted by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm Friday or an hour prior to the services Saturday at the mortuary.
