John Lewis Neal, 83, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at his home in Yorktown, Indiana surrounded by his family. John was born on October 5, 1937 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Voicie Ray and Lena (Catron) Neal. John married Cleo Plaspohl on January 15, 1955, and they were blessed with three children.
John was a successful business man for many years in Muncie, Indiana. Also, John worked for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for 30 years and was the President of Teamsters Local 135 located in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was named to the Board of Directors of the Indiana Labor and Management Council, Inc. John was very active in the International Brotherhood. He enjoyed watching and attending Nascar races and Colts games, and he was a proud sponsor of the local shuffleboard and pool tournaments.
John is survived by his brother, George Neal (Ina), sister, Barbara Hickey, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, long-time friend, Peggy Buchanan, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cleo, son, Johnny Neal, daughters, Vicky Massey and Cheryl Eagan, and brother-in-law, Bill Hickey.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie
