John William Stilwell, of Muncie, passed away peacefully June 6, 2011, at the Golden Living Center. He was born in Emmettsville in 1924 to Lloyd and Mildred (May) Stilwell. He spent much of his life in that community farming family acreage with his father and beloved brother-in-law, Harvey Jerles. He was also a construction worker for Parson Construction, and after retiring from farming, was a general handyman for Thornburg and Sons.
John was a husband, brother and father of two. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Beulah (Harvey) Jerles and Harvey, and several other brothers- and sisters-in-law. He is survived by wife Betty; daughters Carma Donati and Lana Stilwell; grandchildren Erich Donati and Autumn (Ken) Keller; and great-grandchildren Cody and Alexis Keller.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Muncie Rehabilitation Center, Golden Living Center and Hospice for their exceptional care.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie.
