Obituary

John E. Strahan, 77, passed away January 2, 2011 at The Woodlands, following an extended illness.
He was born, January 10, 1933, in Muncie, the son of William Forrest and Georgia (Brees) Strahan.
John graduated from Royerton High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. On June 5, 1964, he married Jean Gilreath. Mr. Strahan retired from Indiana Gas Co. after thirty-nine and one half years of employment.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Strahan, Yorktown; one son, Jeff Strahan, (wife, Judy), New Castle; three daughters, Debbie (Anderson) Timberlake, (husband, Brett), Port Richey, Florida; Rhonda (Anderson) Cohen, (husband, Steve), Indianapolis; Brenda Terrell, (husband, Todd), Muncie; four grandchildren, Henry Murphy; Marc Cohen (wife, Cheryl); Katherine Cohen; and Ian Terrell; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, William Strahan, (wife, Lavon); Eugene Strahan, (wife, Patty); and Robert Strahan, (wife, Jean Ann); one brother-in-law, James "Ted" Scott; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis "Pat" (Webb) Strahan; his parents and one sister, Juanita Scott.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Woody Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, or one hour prior to services Wednesday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
