Muncie - Johnie M. Taylor, 91, went to be with the Lord, on Friday afternoon, October 8, 2010, at Liberty Village.
He was born September 7, 1919, in Whitley City, Kentucky, the son of Minnie (Davis) Taylor and Charlie Taylor. Johnie moved to Muncie in the early 1950's. He was a member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene. Johnie retired in 1971 from Owens-Illinois. Mr. Taylor was a WW II U.S. Army veteran. He was decorated with the WW II Victory Ribbon; the Good Conduct Medal; the American Theatre Ribbon; the AP Theatre Ribbon and one Bronze Service Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Frederick, (husband-Bill) and Ada Sue Shannon, (husband-James); several step children include one step-son, Terri Cain, (wife-Debbie); one brother, Charles Taylor Jr., (wife-Marsha); one sister, Carlene, (husband-Floyd); two grandchildren who he treasured dearly, Stacy Frederick and Donna Frederick, (fianc-Jason Cray); a very special friend, Inis Allen and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Taylor; his parents; four sisters, Gladys Berry; Morine Pittman; Vera Medley and Josphine Mays and one brother, Corell Taylor.
Services will be held 12:00 noon, Monday, October 11, 2010, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Richard Veach officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie, with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Monday.
