Jonathan "Jon" Wayne Manor, 60, of Albany, IN, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 peacefully with his wife and children at his side. Jon was born on March 23, 1949 in Muncie, IN to the late James C. Manor and H. Katherine (Burtness) Manor Sebastian.
Jon graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1967. He then enlisted in the US Navy from 1968--1971. Jon served in the Vietnam War for 18 months.
Jon worked most of his life in the concrete industry and was the owner of Manor Brothers Concrete Work, Inc. in Eaton, IN which started in 1978. Jon was the proud father of three and a grandfather of nine. His favorite pastimes were bidding work, playing golf, watching the Colts, going to Delta basketball & football games, playing with the grandchildren, and story telling. Jon was also affiliated with Grace Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Sharon (Shumaker) of 36 years; daughter Kelly Brown of Muncie, IN; sons Wes Manor (wife: Olivia) of Albany, IN; and Lucas Manor (wife: Kelly) of Muncie, IN; brother Joe Manor (wife: Laurie) of Evansville, IN; half-brother Albert Manor of Muncie, IN; he was Papa Jon to Cade & Belle Brown; Logan, Dylan & Nathan Manor; and Lexie, Maggie, Jonny, and Katie Manor; uncles Robert Manor (wife: Joan) of Muncie, IN; Allan Burtness (wife: Jackie) and Howard Burtness (Daffy), all of CA; sister-in-law Linda Manor of Muncie, IN; step-mother Mary Lou Manor of Albany, IN; and several nieces and a nephew.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents; beloved brother James "Danny" Manor; step-mother Helen Manor; and step-father Sam Sebastian.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Jon will be honored with military rites at the cemetery provided by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
