Joseph (Joe) E. Johnson, 90, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Alliance Health Care in DeLand, Florida, after an extended illness.
Joe Johnson served in World War II and is a United States of America Army Veteran. He owned and operated Joe's Barber Shop at Main and Beacon Streets in Muncie, retiring as a barber to become a builder. Mr. Johnson then retired from building to become a farmer and lived in Farmland, Indiana. In his later years he resided in Florida.
Survivors include three daughters, June Scoggins (husband: Dick, deceased), Judy Saunders, and Jean Hagler (husband: Jim); nine grandchildren, Debbie Scoggins, Tammy Hodges (husband: Jeff), Sherri Reiner (husband: John), Todd Scoggins (wife: Heather), Shane Kinnett (wife: Lori), Troye Kinnett (wife: Barbie), Pam Cecil (husband: Charlie), Nancy Johnson and Joe Collins; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Marion Johnson, and 1 sister, Erma Weekley.
Joe Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; two grandchildren, Brent Kinnett, and Keith Johnson, and several half-brothers and half-sisters.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be given by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
