Joseph Maxie Mellert Sr., age 81, of Hartford City,IN passed away on Friday September 5, 2014 at his residence. Born on September 13, 1932 in Huntington, West Virginia, he was the son of George and Dolly (Frazier) Mellert.
Joseph worked as a glass blower at Sinclair Glass Co., then later at Indiana Glass Co, and in his free time he enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his loving wife Beulah of Hartford City; 2 daughters Vicki Richard of Hartford City and Kelly (Bradley) Everhart of Montpelier; 2 grandsons Jason Sheward and Brandon (Chalyn) Everhart; 3 great-grandchildren Kaitlin Owen, Britton Everhart, and Chanam Sheward; 1 great-great-grandson Jeremiah Owen; 3 brothers; 6 sisters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Joseph Maxie Mellert Jr.
Visitation will be on Wednesday September 10, 2014, from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. Indiana 3, Muncie.
In accordance with Joseph''s wishes there will be no funeral service.
Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Mellert''s memory may be made to American Cancer Society.
