Joyce D. Birt, 66, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 17, 1941 in Whitley, Kentucky the daughter of Cleve M. and Bessie (Dobbs) Gregory. Joyce last worked at Hemman''s Engineering before retiring. She had also worked at L J Stone and Vogue Cleaners. She was a member of Full Gospel Temple. Joyce devoted her life to family and donating her time to Save the Children.
Mrs. Birt is survived by her son, Marlon Glass, (wife-Vanessa); grandson, Daveon Glass; brothers, Cecil Gregory, (wife-Barbara), Roger Gregory, (wife-Bert), Kenny Gregory, (wife-Tammy), Thomas Gregory, (wife-Jackie), Glen Gregory, Billy Martin, (wife-Karen), and Jerry Gregory; sisters, Peggy Schweighardt, (husband-Russell), Diane Essex, Connie Adkins, Glenna Gregory, and Bonnie Powell; sister-in-law, Bea Cherry; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty-two years, Felix Birt; sister, Jeanie Anderson; a sister at birth; nephew, Ricky Anderson; and step-mother, Ethel Gregory.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
