Joyce A. Rupe, 80, of Muncie, passed away on Sunday, October 18th, 2026, at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born in Montpelier, Indiana on July 9th, 1946, to Raymond and Frances (Reece) Merchant.

Joyce graduated from Chester Center High School class of 1964 and then attended Ball State University from 1966 to 1967. She worked most recently for Norrick Petroleum as their bookkeeper for 10+ years until her retirement.

Joyce was a member of Delta Theta Tau in Portland and past President. She enjoyed being on a bowling league during her younger years. Most of all though, she loved spending time with her grandkids and family gatherings.

She is survived by her son, Michael (wife, Jennifer) Rupe; sister, Rhea (late husband, Ralph) Morgan; three grandsons, Zane Rupe, Zeb (significant, Natashia) Rupe, and Zeth Rupe; and two step-grandsons, Adam Nixon and Syd Nixon.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Frances (Reece) Merchant; sister, Sue Merchant; and brother-in-law, Ralph Morgan.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN 47303.

A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Christopher Merchant officiating.

A burial will take place at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
