IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judy Lynn
(Southworth) Cox
September 30, 1956 – January 2, 2021
Judy Lynn (Southworth) Cox passed away on January 2, 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born to Larry and Sue Southworth on September 30, 1956 in Muncie, Indiana, where she spent her first 40 years before moving to the Fort Wayne area. In 1975, prior to her graduation with honors from Wapahani High School, she married Michael Cox, with whom she spent the next 46 years raising and loving their children, adoring their grandchildren (as their Nana), and, all in all, living a life well-lived.
Judy loved the simple pleasures that life offered. She loved the sunshine and warmth of her place in Florida. She loved vacations and palm trees and beaches and long walks. She loved playing music in her car and dancing. She loved Hallmark Christmas movies, knew everything about celebrities, and enjoyed reconnecting with old friends through Facebook.
Most of all, Judy loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and the songs she sang to them (her original creations), whether to drink their medicine ("drink it all down"), to brush their teeth ("brush, brush, brush your teeth…"), to dance ("boogie, boogie boo"), or to help them go to sleep ("rocka bye, my baby [child]…"), will live on in them for generations.
Judy is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, Ryan (Jennifer), Casey (Melissa), and Krystal (Christopher); and her grandchildren: Abigail, Adrianne, Alaynie, Andrew, Bridget, Carson, CJ, Devan, Eli, and Emma. She is also survived by sisters, Deborah (Bill) Finney and Vicki Journay; in-laws, Linda (Curtis) Chastain, Brenda Herriman, Patricia D'Arienzo, Sharon (Clifford) Wilson, Kathryn (Ben) McQuaide, and Randall (Stephanie) Cox; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kenna (Jim) Bradfield and the Wapahani Jungle Team. She is preceded in death by her parents; niece, Carissa D'Arienzo; and nephew, Chuck Finney.
She loved, and was loved.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 pm, also in the Funeral Home, officiated by Carl Goad.
