June Elaine Oxley, 67, of Muncie, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born on October 24, 1942 in Delta, MO to the late Leon and Ella Elva (Carroll) Leazenby. June is a 1960 graduate of Muncie Central High School. On March 11, 1966 she married her love, Timothy L. Oxley.
June worked as a supervisor and stenographer for 25 years at the Delaware County Extension Office before retiring in December 1999. June enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers; reading mystery books; cooking; shopping; boating and camping; exercising and running; and touring the Parade of Homes. She also enjoyed traveling with her daughter and sisters. But above all, June loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
June is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Timothy Oxley; their children: Kenneth Oxley (wife, Tracy) and Lisa Chambers (husband, Andrew) all of Muncie; 3 grandchildren: Bryce, Kyle, and Taylan Oxley all of Muncie; brother David Leazenby of Huntsville, AL; 5 sisters: Phyllis Prestage (husband, Walter) of Aberdeen, MS; Linda Allen (husband, Ron) of Anderson, IN; Della Beaty (husband, Larry) of Anderson, IN; Carolyn Satterfield (husband, Bruce) of Eaton, IN; and Mary Serrano (husband, Juan) of Astatuila, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 sisters: Ella Simmons and Martha Tuttle.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 23, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will be on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
