Obituary

Kathryn "Kay" L. Zapf, 82, of Muncie, IN went to be with the Lord on Friday February 6, 2009 at Liberty Village Nursing Home in Muncie. She was born on September 12, 1926 in Muncie, IN the daughter of George R. and Stella (May) Thomas. She graduated from Central High School in 1945. On August 5, 1945 she married Rollin C. Zapf who preceded her in death.
She was a charter member of the Tabor Baptist church. She loved to serve at the church. She was also a Lioness member of the Lions Club. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and sponsoring exchange students. She worked in the cafeteria at Daleville Elementary for eighteen years.
Surviving relatives include one son, Mike Rollin Zapf (wife: Marieta) of Hartford City, IN; two sisters, Helen Hardhesty of Eaton, IN; Viola Davis (husband: Russell) of Muncie, IN; one brother, Mark Thomas Sr. (wife: Myrtle) of Muncie, IN; three grandchildren, Aaron Zapf (wife: Kelli) of Gaston, IN; Craig Zapf (wife: Jenny) of Gaston, IN; Lynnea Bair (husband: Eric) of Summitville, IN; five great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Norma Richman of Yorktown, IN and Mary Catherine Thomas of Muncie, IN; several special nieces and nephews; and very special family friends, Ted and Heather Ashcraft and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother Charles Thomas.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 11, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Jim Sandberg will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tabor Baptist church in memory of Kathryn Zapf.
