Kenneth Edward Abercrombie, Sr. 88 of Muncie went to be with the Lord, on Tuesday morning, July 11, 2017 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born December 6, 1928 in Hamilton, OH and was the son of the late Harry & Fanney (Hisel) Abercrombie.
Kenneth retired from Onterio Corporation as a millwright after 40 years of service. He enjoyed being with family and friends, being outdoors and enjoying wildlife. Kenneth proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army serving in the 101st Airborne.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Opal (Hurn) Abercrombie of Muncie; a daughter Karen E. Gross (Larry) of Cincinnati, OH; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; a brother David Abercrombie (Lorna) and a sister Rose Babbet both of Sarasota, FL. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth E. Abercrombie, Jr. and Keith E. Abercrombie,Sr; a brother Alvin Abercrombie and two sisters Helen Young and Bess Lutton.
Funeral Services for Kenneth will be held Monday, July 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Sound the Alarm Church of God 3100 East McGalliard Road, Muncie, with Pastor Joey Prewitt officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Garden View Funeral Home.
